COVER STORY

Take a Tip from the Stars!

Whether you’re thinking of coming to Nashville for the Opry’s Birthday this October or planning to beat the heat in Music City next summer, opry.com has some trip tips from your favorite stars to help you make the most of your visit.

When we culled the tips the stars shared with us we started to see a little pattern …

Some of them are planners …

"Try to plan your trip so you'll have enough time to see and hear it all." Troy Gentry of Montgomery Gentry

“If you have the option to plan when you will come, there are so many events scheduled throughout the year, try and make your stay during one of those times.” Dusty Drake

“Read up - study the city and/or country music first.” Steve Wariner

And some just throw caution to the wind …

"My most memorable trips have always been those that included things you just can't plan. Nashville is full of possibilities. Enjoy!" Robert Reynolds of The Mavericks

Sometimes they agree …

“Go to some of the local favorite places, not the typical tourist spots … go to Franklin to the square, Historic Richland, and take a drive out to Leipers Fork, and the Natchez Trace.” Terri Clark

“Don't do all the tourist stuff. Find your own way or ask someone who is there a lot.” Miranda Lambert

And sometimes they contradict each other …

“Nashville is the big city with the small town feel, so the best tip I can think of is to never rush. Take your time and enjoy all Nashville has to offer.” Loretta Lynn

“Don’t pace yourself … there’s too much fun and you only live once! Go see and hear it all!” Danielle Peck

Some of them offer sage words of advice …

“Trust your judgment, and don't fall for the hype.” Pam Tillis

“Sometimes road names change in Nashville, so getting a map on a first visit would be smart.” Julie Roberts

“Wear walking shoes.” Del McCoury

And some of them are just plain funny …

“LeAnn Rimes lives on Hillsboro Road and she'll invite you in for coffee or a chat, maybe some pictures, or just to jam on the piano for a few hours. Heck, bring some songs, you'll have a ball!” Keith Urban
